The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) manages the RRB JE (Junior Engineer) hiring exam to fill opportunities for the post of Junior Engineer, Junior Engineer (IT), Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant in Indian Railways. Eligibility Criteria RRB JE Recruitment 2023
- Age Limit: The minimum age limit to apply for the RRB JE exam is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 33 years. However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to reserved categories.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Engineering from a recognized university/institution. Candidates with a Diploma in Engineering should have completed their Diploma in the relevant field of Engineering from a recognized institution.

Selection Process of the Candidates
The RRB JE recruitment process consists of two stages – Computer Based Test (CBT) and Document Verification. Candidates who clear the CBT will be called for document verification. The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the CBT and document verification.
Exam Pattern
The RRB JE recruitment exam is conducted in two stages – CBT 1 and CBT 2. The exam pattern for both stages is as follows:
CBT 1
- The exam will consist of multiple-choice questions.
- The exam will have 100 questions.
- The total duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
- The exam will be conducted in English, Hindi, and other regional languages.
CBT 2
- The exam will consist of multiple-choice questions.

CBT 1
- Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple, and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions.
- General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity, and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments, etc.
- General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences (up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus).
CBT 2
- General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity, and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments, etc.
- Physics and Chemistry: Up to 12th standard CBSE syllabus.
